Look Not at the Things that are Seen

I love God’s word in 2 Corinthians 4:18 that tells us “to consider and look not at the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen” for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting) SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT but things that are invisible are EVERLASTING and ETERNAL.

You see He has the power and authority to keep us in the hard places (or so they seem to us) BUT it is in those times of TRUSTING HIM that our FAITH becomes stronger and we realize that He knows exactly WHERE we are and exactly WHAT we need WHEN we need it. He forever wants to BLESS us!

He delights in the PROSPERITY of His servants! Psalm 35:27(b)This is a word that I want to sink deep into my spirit!

A few years ago my husband was self-employed and let me tell you – things can literally change in a day. It seems at times that it is either FEAST or FAMINE.

We had just finished a line of jobs that took us through the holidays but now, there had been NO work for about (4) weeks.

Naturally, my eyes wanted to look at my checkbook and worry and be overly cautious in spending ANY amount.

My mouth wanted to speak what I could see in the natural, thinking here we go again back to the same old struggles.

My mind wanted to feel guilty for a few extra things that we bought for ourselves –  which we NEVER do (and believe me they were nothing extravagant.

BUT at the same time my spirit man was wrestling with all those thoughts because there is always a war going on between our spirits and our souls.

The Lord began to speak this to me:

When you entertain those thoughts – you are keeping a POVERTY MENTALITY and that is NOT my desire for you!

He said – I want to bless you! I want you to have MORE than enough! It is NOT my plan for you to live in lack! Do I not ALWAYS meet your needs! It may not always come in the way you expect or in your time frame but it comes!

Part of the wait is so that you will TRUST ME – training your senses to see my PROVISION for you!

So, thank God, we made it! He took care of us as always and still does to this day! It’s definitely a lesson you learn through life’s experiences as you trust in His promises!

2 Corinthians 4:15-18 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

15 For all [these] things are [taking place] for your sake, so that the more grace (divine favor and spiritual blessing) extends to more and more people and multiplies through the many, the more thanksgiving may increase [and redound] to the glory of God.

16 Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.

17 For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

18 Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.

Praying for your Husband #8 – Seeking Fulfillment In Our Personal Relationship

I apologize for being so late with this post. Its been a busy week and weekend. Thanks for hanging in there with me. We have two more to go and then I will move on to something else. I will possibly stay with the subject of prayer with an occasional devotional. Hope you continue to read and be encouraged!

Our prayer time today with The Daily Grace Company   prayer cards is on sexual intimacy. It is not only a delicate but also a necessary subject to study in scripture but I have decided to only touch lightly on the scriptures given on the cards. I chose instead to use other scriptures that I felt were more appropriate to what I wanted to pray about today,  although we will be using the prayer points. You can always go back and study in your personal time. You can find study guides, commentaries and notes online.

Day 8

Pray for your husband to prioritize your sexual relationship

Pray that sexual intimacy will be a place of love, fun, pleasure and fulfillment, and never a point of conflict in your relationship

I Corinthians 7, Song of Solomon 7:10, Proverbs 5:18

I Corinthians 7 – covers the principles of purity, principles of mutual sexual responsibility in marriage, benefits of marriage, divorce, etc.

Song of Solomon 7:10 – She proudly said, I am my beloved’s and his desire is for me.

Proverbs 5:18 -19 – Drink water from your own cistern and fresh water out of your own well. Let your children be confined to your wife and confine your self to your own wife.

The area of sexual intimacy is such an  important part of our marriages but I wanted to focus in on the area of love, honor and respect between a husband and wife. As you begin to practice these principles outside of the bedroom then all the rest will naturally fall in place. You have to start first by building a secure relationship with the proper foundation.

Here are the scriptures I wanted to pray through today:

Ephesians 5:25-33. I Peter 3:1-4, Colossians 15-19, Song of Solomon 5:13-21, Proverbs 5:15-19 and  Song of Solomon 7 (describes the beauty of his love) read this in spare time in different translations.

Ephesians 5:23-33

__________________ will love me (his wife) as Christ loved the church. He will sanctify me with the washing of the water with the Word. ______________ will love me (his wife) as he loves himself for no man hates his flesh but nourishes it, protects and cherishes it as Christ does the church. Let ______________ without exception love me (his wife) as his self and I as his wife will respect and reverence ______________ , my husband. I  will notice him, regard him, honor him and prefer him, venerate and esteem him. I will defer to him, praise him, love and admire him exceedingly.

I Peter 3:1-4

I will adapt myself to _________________ so that even if he doesn’t obey the Word of God he may be won over not by discussion but by the Godly actions of his wife. As he observes the pure and modest way I conduct myself together with reverence for him which includes respect, honor, esteem, adoration, admiration, devotion and deep love as I enjoy __________________ my husband.

I will not worry as much about my outward appearance as I do about the  inner beauty of the hidden person of the heart – the unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit which is not anxious or wrought up but is precious in God’s sight.

  • Sarah showed honor to Abraham. We should follow her example
  • Husbands are to give honor to wives as the weaker vessel being heirs together in the grace of life.
  •  dwell together in understanding
  •  be of one mind (be in unity)
  • be compassionate and tenderhearted to each other
  • should not return evil for evil but be quick to forgive and give a blessing instead

Colossians 3:10-21

We will clothe ourselves  with a new spiritual self ever in the process of being renewed and remolded into the fuller more perfect knowledge after the image of Him.

Christ is all in all – everything and everywhere to us.

We  will allow Christ to be everything we need in those times we feel alone.

We are  chosen by You. We are tenderhearted, merciful, kind, gentle and patient with each other. We have  the power to endure whatever comes with good temper.

We will be gentle and forbearing with one another. If one has a complaint or grievance against the other, we will readily pardon each other and forgive as Christ has forgiven us.

We will put on love and enfold ourselves with the bond of perfectness (which binds everything together in ideal harmony.

We will let peace from Christ act as umpire continually in our hearts, deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in our  minds in that peaceful state to which we were called to live. We will be thankful and appreciative, giving praise to God always.

Proverbs  5:13-19

__________________ will drink waters out of his own cistern (of a pure marriage relationship) and fresh running water out of his own well.

__________________ will confine himself to his own wife. He will let his fountain of human life be blessed with the rewards of fidelity and will rejoice with the wife of his youth. She will be as the loving hind and pleasant doe (tender, gentle, attractive) and her bosom will satisfy him at all times and he will always be transported with delight in her love.

Lord, I thank You that my husband will love me as himself even as Christ loved the church.  He will take care of me and protect me always and as he shows his love to me, I will respect and honor him. I will conduct myself in a pure and modest way so that if he doesn’t obey the word he will be won over by my Godly actions.

Thank You that I will not be anxious but I will have a gentle and peaceful spirit that is precious in Your sight. I will give honor to my husband and he will honor me. We are heirs together in this life.

Let us dwell together in unity and understanding. Give us abundant grace to be compassionate, tenderhearted and  quick to forgive each other.

As we clothe ourselves with Christ we will continually be remolded and renewed  into a deeper knowledge of You and Your ways.

You, Lord are everything we need at all times and in every season of our lives. Help us to endure whatever comes our way with a good temper. We will not hold a grudge against one another. We will choose to put on love that binds everything together in perfect harmony.

You are our peace in every situation and we will allow You to settle any arguments or disagreements we have. We will praise You always!

We will always make time for each other. We will prioritize our sexual relationship. Our place of intimacy will be a place of love, pleasure and fulfillment. It will never be a place of conflict.

Thank You that we are faithful to each other and will not be tempted beyond our marital boundaries. We will be satisfied at all times and delight in each others love.

Thank You that we seek You first in our relationship and build a proper foundation for our marriage, You will bring order and structure to everything else in our lives.

We give You all the honor and praise, in Jesus name!

Praying for His Blessings to overflow in abundance to you today!

Scripture Declarations for Your Husband

I’m taking a little detour from the prayer focus we have been on. I will try to post #8 tomorrow. Today I  wanted to share some scriptures and declarations that I  personally am praying over my husband. You will notice they mention old age quite a few times (lol)  that’s because we are getting to that season of our lives but you can definitely start praying these over the younger ones now.  You will be amazed at what will happen as you begin to speak the Word over them!

Scripture References:

Psalm 37:23-26, Psalm 71:9-18, Psalm 92:12-15, Isaiah 46:4, Proverbs 17:6, Proverbs 20:29 and Proverbs 21:1-2

Scripture Declarations

  • His steps are directed and established by the Lord
  • He delights in the Lord
  • He will not fall – the Lord supports and upholds him
  • He will not be cast off in the time of old age
  • He will hope continually in the Lord
  • He will declare Your Mighty strength to this generation
  • He will flourish like the palm tree – he will be long lived, stately, upright, useful and fruitful
  • He will be planted in the house of the Lord
  • He will grow in grace and bring forth fruit in old age
  • He will be full of sap (spiritual vitality)
  • He will be rich in trust, love, and contentment
  • He will be a living memorial to the Lord
  • Even in old age, the Lord will carry him and save him
  • His grandchildren are the crown of his old age
  • His children glory in him
  • The beauty of old age is gray hair (wisdom and experience)
  • His heart is in the hand of the Lord (who weighs & tries the hearts)
  • His paths are directed by God – He leads him in the direction he should go

Just begin by personalizing the declarations with your husbands name. Take time to journal and write out the prayers that the Lord quickens to you through this time. He will definitely speak if you are listening. Prayer times should include a time of listening, searching your heart, confession and releasing any un-forgiveness. As you begin to pray and declare the scriptures listed here  the Lord will add to them and show you  how to pray specifically for your husband. He will give you wisdom and strategies for your own personal situations.

Pray this with me:

Lord, thank You for speaking to us today. Open our eyes and our ears to hear what You would say to us concerning our husbands. Give us wisdom and specific words to pray. Thank You for strategies to overcome any obstacles that we endure. Bind our hearts together with Your perfect love. Let our lives be filled with Your abundant grace which is sufficient for all things. We give You praise and honor, in Jesus name!

Pray this with me:

Lord, thank You that our husbands will always guard their hearts. No temptation will overtake them that is beyond human resistance. They will not be tempted beyond their ability and strength of resistance. You will always provide a way out for them. Our husbands are clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ and they make no room for indulging the flesh or any thoughts that are not of You,  They are strong in You and Your word. Dressed in Your complete armor, able to stand against any strategies or attacks from the devil. They are wise and know where their battles are coming from. As they put on God’s complete armor they will be able to resist and stand in the evil days – to stand FIRMLY in place and not be moved, in Jesus name! Amen
