I apologize for being so late with this post. Its been a busy week and weekend. Thanks for hanging in there with me. We have two more to go and then I will move on to something else. I will possibly stay with the subject of prayer with an occasional devotional. Hope you continue to read and be encouraged!
Our prayer time today with The Daily Grace Company prayer cards is on sexual intimacy. It is not only a delicate but also a necessary subject to study in scripture but I have decided to only touch lightly on the scriptures given on the cards. I chose instead to use other scriptures that I felt were more appropriate to what I wanted to pray about today, although we will be using the prayer points. You can always go back and study in your personal time. You can find study guides, commentaries and notes online.
Pray for your husband to prioritize your sexual relationship
Pray that sexual intimacy will be a place of love, fun, pleasure and fulfillment, and never a point of conflict in your relationship
I Corinthians 7, Song of Solomon 7:10, Proverbs 5:18
I Corinthians 7 – covers the principles of purity, principles of mutual sexual responsibility in marriage, benefits of marriage, divorce, etc.
Song of Solomon 7:10 – She proudly said, I am my beloved’s and his desire is for me.
Proverbs 5:18 -19 – Drink water from your own cistern and fresh water out of your own well. Let your children be confined to your wife and confine your self to your own wife.
The area of sexual intimacy is such an important part of our marriages but I wanted to focus in on the area of love, honor and respect between a husband and wife. As you begin to practice these principles outside of the bedroom then all the rest will naturally fall in place. You have to start first by building a secure relationship with the proper foundation.
Here are the scriptures I wanted to pray through today:
Ephesians 5:25-33. I Peter 3:1-4, Colossians 15-19, Song of Solomon 5:13-21, Proverbs 5:15-19 and Song of Solomon 7 (describes the beauty of his love) read this in spare time in different translations.
__________________ will love me (his wife) as Christ loved the church. He will sanctify me with the washing of the water with the Word. ______________ will love me (his wife) as he loves himself for no man hates his flesh but nourishes it, protects and cherishes it as Christ does the church. Let ______________ without exception love me (his wife) as his self and I as his wife will respect and reverence ______________ , my husband. I will notice him, regard him, honor him and prefer him, venerate and esteem him. I will defer to him, praise him, love and admire him exceedingly.
I Peter 3:1-4
I will adapt myself to _________________ so that even if he doesn’t obey the Word of God he may be won over not by discussion but by the Godly actions of his wife. As he observes the pure and modest way I conduct myself together with reverence for him which includes respect, honor, esteem, adoration, admiration, devotion and deep love as I enjoy __________________ my husband.
I will not worry as much about my outward appearance as I do about the inner beauty of the hidden person of the heart – the unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit which is not anxious or wrought up but is precious in God’s sight.
- Sarah showed honor to Abraham. We should follow her example
- Husbands are to give honor to wives as the weaker vessel being heirs together in the grace of life.
- dwell together in understanding
- be of one mind (be in unity)
- be compassionate and tenderhearted to each other
- should not return evil for evil but be quick to forgive and give a blessing instead
We will clothe ourselves with a new spiritual self ever in the process of being renewed and remolded into the fuller more perfect knowledge after the image of Him.
Christ is all in all – everything and everywhere to us.
We will allow Christ to be everything we need in those times we feel alone.
We are chosen by You. We are tenderhearted, merciful, kind, gentle and patient with each other. We have the power to endure whatever comes with good temper.
We will be gentle and forbearing with one another. If one has a complaint or grievance against the other, we will readily pardon each other and forgive as Christ has forgiven us.
We will put on love and enfold ourselves with the bond of perfectness (which binds everything together in ideal harmony.
We will let peace from Christ act as umpire continually in our hearts, deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in our minds in that peaceful state to which we were called to live. We will be thankful and appreciative, giving praise to God always.
__________________ will drink waters out of his own cistern (of a pure marriage relationship) and fresh running water out of his own well.
__________________ will confine himself to his own wife. He will let his fountain of human life be blessed with the rewards of fidelity and will rejoice with the wife of his youth. She will be as the loving hind and pleasant doe (tender, gentle, attractive) and her bosom will satisfy him at all times and he will always be transported with delight in her love.
PRAY THIS WITH ME:
Lord, I thank You that my husband will love me as himself even as Christ loved the church. He will take care of me and protect me always and as he shows his love to me, I will respect and honor him. I will conduct myself in a pure and modest way so that if he doesn’t obey the word he will be won over by my Godly actions.
Thank You that I will not be anxious but I will have a gentle and peaceful spirit that is precious in Your sight. I will give honor to my husband and he will honor me. We are heirs together in this life.
Let us dwell together in unity and understanding. Give us abundant grace to be compassionate, tenderhearted and quick to forgive each other.
As we clothe ourselves with Christ we will continually be remolded and renewed into a deeper knowledge of You and Your ways.
You, Lord are everything we need at all times and in every season of our lives. Help us to endure whatever comes our way with a good temper. We will not hold a grudge against one another. We will choose to put on love that binds everything together in perfect harmony.
You are our peace in every situation and we will allow You to settle any arguments or disagreements we have. We will praise You always!
We will always make time for each other. We will prioritize our sexual relationship. Our place of intimacy will be a place of love, pleasure and fulfillment. It will never be a place of conflict.
Thank You that we are faithful to each other and will not be tempted beyond our marital boundaries. We will be satisfied at all times and delight in each others love.
Thank You that we seek You first in our relationship and build a proper foundation for our marriage, You will bring order and structure to everything else in our lives.
We give You all the honor and praise, in Jesus name!
Praying for His Blessings to overflow in abundance to you today!
