This morning when I woke up I began to feel a little overwhelmed. Immediately I heard in my spirit “When my heart is overwhelmed within me – lead me to the Rock that is higher than I” Psalm 61:2.

Overwhelmed – defeated, overcome, rendered powerless by an excessive amount of something.

He is saying that we can’t allow things or cicumstances to overwhelm us instead we need to go to the Rock who is the source of our strength!!!

You are my Strength and my Shield. My heart will trust in You therefore I am helped. My heart leaps for joy as I give You thanks! Psalm 28:7

I’m also reminded of I Peter 5:7-10

v.7 – Casting ALL of your cares on Him for He cares for you affectionately and watchfully.

He loves you with an everlasting love and sees everything you are going through and says that He will never leave you or forsake you.He watches over you!

v.8 – be vigilant and cautious at ALL times for that enemy of yours roams about looking for someone to sieze upon and devour.

Be aware, be on guard and be quick to recognize those attacks.

v.9 – withstand him. be firm in faith against his onset – be rooted, established, strong, immovable and determined.

Be determined to stand against him and instead choose to believe God’s Word as truth.

There is good news in verse 10.

v.10 – and after you’ve suffered a little while, the God of all grace (who imparts blessing and favor) who has called you His own will Himself COMPLETE and make you what you ought to be and will ESTABLISH, GROUND you SECURELY and STRENGTHEN you and SETTLE you.

Don’t give up or become discouraged for He says that He WILL complete and make you what you ought to be!!! Praise the Lord!

Let me leave you with this scripture. Psalm 27:14 – Wait for and hope for and expect the Lord. Be brave and of good courage. Let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.

DO NOT LOSE HOPE! Keep an exectantcy about you today and get ready for Him to show Himself strong on your behalf today!!!!

Who are you?

Do you know who you are in Christ?

You are SECURE

You are LOVED

You are STRONG

You are FREE

You are CHOSEN

Be who HE says you are today!!!

Jesus Calling – Sarah Young

August 5

Sit quietly in My presence while I bless you. Make your mind like a still pool of water, ready to receive whatever thoughts I drop into it. Rest in My sufficiency as you consider the challenges this day presents. Do not wear yourself out by worrying about whether you can cope with the pressures. Keep looking to Me and communicating with Me as we walk through this day together.

Take time to rest by the wayside, for I am not in a hurry. A leisurely pace accomplishes more than hurried striving. When you rush, you forget who you are and Whose you are. Remember that you are royalty in My kingdom.

Psalm 37:7, Romans 8;16-17, I Peter 2:9

Whet and Sharpen

I’m starting a new online Bible study this week and one of our scriptures is in Deuteronomy 6:5. It says You shall love the Lord with ALL your mind, ALL your heart, your ENTIRE being and with ALL your might.

HOW DO WE DO THAT? By surrendering everything that is begging for our attention and saying “yes” to Him!!!

Then as I moved down and read verse 6) it says – these words which am I commanding you this day shall be first in your own minds and hearts and then…

You shall whet and sharpen them as to make them penetrate AND teach and impress them diligently upon the minds and hearts of your children, and talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise.

whet – 1) to sharpen as by grinding or friction 2) to increase or inhance the (appetite, desire) stimulate

So after you have (sharpened) the word by studying it, writing it out and meditating it so as to get it deeply in your heart and mind then you shall teach and impress them upon the minds and hearts of your children.

Remember first to get the Word in your heart and mind and then teach it to your children or grandchildren or spiritual children.

A Reminder

This is what I heard in my quiet time this morning – How can I do those things in your life that I have spoken to you if you won’t move??

The word given to me at the beginning of the year was – every year, you have been waiting on Me but this year I am waiting on you!

This year He has been waiting on me to make a move. To do the things He has spoken to me. I have to be a willing vessel in order for Him to use me.

Lord, give me a willing heart to obey all that You’ve called me to do!!! Give me feet to move in the direction you have caled me. Give me courage to fulfill that call without reservations. Help me to move past my fears and insecurities into Your plans and purposes for my life!

I will take joy in doing Your will, My God, for Your instructions are written on my heart. Psalm 40:8

Is there something He is waiting on you to do?
