Whet and Sharpen

I’m starting a new online Bible study this week and one of our scriptures is in Deuteronomy 6:5. It says You shall love the Lord with ALL your mind, ALL your heart, your ENTIRE being and with ALL your might.

HOW DO WE DO THAT? By surrendering everything that is begging for our attention and saying “yes” to Him!!!

Then as I moved down and read verse 6) it says – these words which am I commanding you this day shall be first in your own minds and hearts and then…

You shall whet and sharpen them as to make them penetrate AND teach and impress them diligently upon the minds and hearts of your children, and talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise.

whet – 1) to sharpen as by grinding or friction 2) to increase or inhance the (appetite, desire) stimulate

So after you have (sharpened) the word by studying it, writing it out and meditating it so as to get it deeply in your heart and mind then you shall teach and impress them upon the minds and hearts of your children.

Remember first to get the Word in your heart and mind and then teach it to your children or grandchildren or spiritual children.

Blessings!
